This two times 10-weeks study program, consisting of up to five courses (total 30 ECTS), will offer you an introduction to the horticulture business in the Netherlands.
1. Horticultural sector (6 ECTS)
Main topics: orientation on the agricultural sector - specific the top sectors
2. Plant and environment (8 ECTS)
Main topics: introduction to: tissues and cells, plant kingdom, assortment, breeding, propagation, soil and plant health
3. Plant and cell (8 ECTS)
Main topics: introduction to: plant structure and development - cell morphology and cell physiology of tissues and cells, genetics and photosynthesis
4. Economics and business (6 ECTS)
Main topics: introduction to: entrepreneurship, business and corporate finance, Excel, interview, reporting and ethics
5. Professional Skill training (2 ECTS)
This two times 10-weeks study program, consisting of up to six courses (total 30 ECTS), is based on working from a basic set of knowledge and skills towards a (more) professional level of knowledge and skills in the field of horticulture business.
1. Entrepreneurship and market (6 ECTS)
Main topics: business plan, starting a business, entrepreneurial qualities, sales, financial results
2. Horticulture and planning (6 ECTS)
Main topics: soil and fertilization, cultivation technique (open field / protected cultivation), crop protection and crop protection plan, experimental design and statistics
3. Supply chain management (6 ECTS)
Main topics: supply chain, chain information, sales strategy, collaboration, logistics, food safety and waste, quality, storage and certification
4. Horticulture and technology (6 ECTS)
Main topics: analyze technical applications within a real company, improvement plan
5. Cultivation Project (2 ECTS)
6. Professional Skill training, PPD (1 ECTS)
This 20-weeks study program, consisting of up to five courses (total 30 ECTS), is focused on working from a reasonable professional set of knowledge and skills towards sound knowledge and mastered skills in the field of horticulture business.
1. Business and management (6 ECTS)
Main topics: management, business processes, quality, hrm, data processing
2. Cultivation research (6 ECTS)
Main topics: statistics, breeding, (in vitro) multiplication of a vegetatively multiplicated crop and fertilizing
3. Future farming 1 / Future farming 1 HBM (6 ECTS)
Main topics: Innovative cultivation systems, circular agriculture, biobased economy, Big data, green health, nutrition and health and sustainable development goals
4. Future farming 2 / Future farming 2 HBM (6 ECTS)
Main topics: Creating a future image for a company based on current and future developments and innovations for a self-selected sector
5. Cultivation Project (2 ECTS)
6. Professional Skill training, PPD (1 ECTS)
